SENIOR ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ASSISTANT – RETAIL

WOKING – 3 DAYS IN / 2 DAYS FROM HOME – PERMANENT – A hands-on AP role with real ownership and team responsibility

£32,000–£34,000

Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional looking for a role with more ownership and variety? Do you thrive when you’re close to the detail but also helping those around you improve?

We Do Group are recruiting a Senior Accounts Payable Assistant for a well-established retail business based in Woking. This is a permanent, hybrid role sitting within a structured finance function – supporting the AP Manager, taking ownership of key processes, and providing day-to-day guidance to junior team members.

It’s a broad AP seat – you’ll be across invoice processing, payment runs, supplier reconciliations, and month-end, while also being the person others lean on when they need direction.

WISH LIST

  • Solid Accounts Payable experience gained in a large or multi-entity business
  • Comfortable supporting or supervising junior team members – you’re the one people come to with questions
  • Organised and process-minded – you spot inefficiencies and do something about them

THE ROLE

  • Process vendor invoices and credits accurately and on time across multiple operating divisions
  • Prepare payment runs in line with company controls – flag discrepancies and recommend fixes
  • Carry out regular supplier statement reconciliations to keep accounts clean and up to date
  • Manage relationships with business-critical suppliers to protect supply and service continuity
  • Own the AP ticketing system and invoice scanning software day-to-day – keeping everything moving
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations – investigate anomalies and resolve aged items
  • Support the supplier onboarding process and oversee the proforma payment tracker
  • Maintain working knowledge of VAT and CIS regulations to ensure compliant invoice processing
  • Provide clear direction and workload distribution to junior team members
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement agreed changes with the AP Manager
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and support as the function requires

YOUR PROFILE

  • Experience in a high-volume AP environment
  • Effective communicator – written & verbal
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Confident supporting or guiding junior colleagues

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • £32,000–£34,000
  • Woking – 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
